ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS IN AFRICA.

Who We Are

Representing international schools on the continent of Africa, AISA has a membership of schools which range in size from 20 to 3600 students. Strongly influenced by their location and cosmopolitan student enrollment, some schools have an American based curriculum, others are British, and all have an international focus. AISA’s goal is to serve the varying needs of nearly 29,000 students and over 1,800 teachers and administrators.



AISA’s Mission Statement

The mission of the Association is to facilitate school effectiveness and to inspire student learning in the international schools of Africa by promoting communication, collaboration, and professional development



AISA Members Believe
All individuals have intrinsic worth and deserve an opportunity to learn in a challenging, safe, and nurturing environment
Optimal student learning is advanced through educational research and its application through effective practice
International education provides a foundation for global citizenship
Collaboration and interdependence among individuals and organizations are powerful agents of positive change

AISA’s Objectives

AISA will
Enhance the quality of student learning by promoting effective educational practice
Foster intercultural and international understanding
Promote an appreciation and understanding of Africa
Support professional development within member schools
Collect, analyze, and distribute information to help guide member schools
Enable close collaboration and networking among its members
Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and institutions which complement AISA’s values and mission

AISA Affiliate Members

Eligibility

Affiliate Membership is available to elementary and/or secondary international schools or other organizations on the continent of Africa or elsewhere who are interested in the Mission and Objectives of the Association. Such members may be unaccredited or unauthorized by a recognized agency or unable to take part in the full range of activities offered by the Association.

This is a non-voting membership and includes all other membership privileges due the school as outlined below.

Benefits of Affiliate -School Membership

Affiliate Members receive all AISA publications, participate in various surveys, and are eligible to receive grants and scholarships through AISA. They are listed in the directory under the School Membership category and receive a membership certificate.

Representatives from Affiliate Member Schools are encouraged to attend the annual AISA conferences as well as to present workshops at these conferences. The registration fee for the conferences is an amount between the Full School Member registration and the Non-Member registration.

This is a non-voting membership with access AISA’s to many (but not all) of the professional development services provided by AISA. The annual dues are determined according to enrollment.

AISA continually re-organizes the services it offers to Affiliates with a view of expanding and enhancing the services it offers. Many of these will be accessible via our new online web portal.
